• i have done allot to prove I can care for one but my mom said she wouldn't ever let me have a hamster what could i do? i have written essays and everything i have taken on Allot of extra chores. what else can i do

  • Try asking for something larger instead like a dog and she might cave in and get you a hamster because she would rather you have a hamster than of a dog.

  • The trick is ask your parents to go to the pet store show them the hamsters they have and they will fall in love with them thats how i got seven hamsters,my parents didnt want me to get a hamster until we went to the pet store and fell in love with them.Show your parents that they dont stink,and are easy to take care of,email me if you need help.

  • DON'T get a hamster! they are evil! get a rat. hamsters always bite, but not rats! I don't mean to be rude, but it is true. rats are much more fun though. but like the other said, ask your mom why she refuses to get one.

  • Ask her why she refuses to let you have an animal that will remain in a cage. Explain that the responsibility of a pet is a sign of growing up, of showing responsibility. If she still says no, you're probably screwed.


  • i have a hamster, and i have had MANY. hamsters really aren't that hard to take care of, but you really need to make sure you give the hamster much attention. you need to be sure to cleans it's cage every 2 weaks, and feed it every day. you also need to give it fresh water at least every other day. if you are young, it isn't a very good idea bcuz they have a very short life-span, they live about 2 years, but if you take REALLY good care of it, like me, it will live longer, mine lived 3 and a half which is very impressive. i hope your mom will let u bcuz they are wonderful pets that don't really stink. if i were u, i woulld tell her all the amazing things about hamsters and how they are good pets. i remember getting my mom to say yes the first time i wanted one.

  • I think the people who are telling you to ask her why are right. If she says she doesn't know if you can handle the responsibility, ask her what you could do to change her mind. Don't go into what you've already been doing. While you have a point, she may see it as whining. Listen to her and do your best to do what she suggests.
    Unfortunately for you, she may also tell you that she does not like rodents. In this case, you could become a vet before you graduate high school, and you wouldn't change her mind. You may have to think about a different kind of pet.
