• right now, Alabama is the number one team in the BCS. Oklahoma is No. 2 and Texas is No. 3. Let's say Alabama loses to Florida in the SEC Championship and Oklahoma wins the Big 12 Championship over Missouri. Does that mean Oklahoma and Texas (two teams from the same conference) would both move up to the first two spots in the BCS and play for the National Championship? is that legal/possible?

  • There is a chance this year that If Florida wins in an ugly game against Alabama that would put Texas in the nc against Oklahoma. If they only win by like 3 points or so, it will happen. The computers don't like Florida this year like they do Texas.

  • It's possible, but I don't want to see it. Look at this way, the only way to prove you are the best team and prove that the competition level in your conference is really tough, is to play other conferences. For those that believe that OU and Texas are the two best teams in the nation, and for those that believe that Alabama and Florida are the two best teams in the nation, the only way to prove this is to play each other out of conference. I'm surely no fan of USC, but the only way to prove they aren't the best is for an out of conference team to beat them, otherwise their argument is as good as yours.

  • Yeah, it could happen. But probably won't.
If #1 Alabama loses to #4 Florida, then you'd think Alabama would drop down to #4 or #5.
If #2 Oklahoma wins the Big 12, they should move up to #1 because of the Alabama loss.
#3 Texas doesn't play so they should move up to #2 with the Alabama loss.
#4 Florida should move up to #3 with the victory over Alabama.

That would pit #1 Oklahoma vs #2 Texas for the BCS NC game.

But, I think the Harris Poll and Coaches Poll voters will make sure they rank Florida #2 and leave Texas #3, to avoid having 2 teams from the Big 12 in the NC game.

Who knows what the computer rankings will do since we aren't allowed to know how their software works.

I don't know but I wouldn't be surprised if the poll voters aren't calling each other and agreeing to move Florida up to #2 should they beat Alabama.

  • I DONT KNOW I WISH IT IS CUZ I LIKE LONGHORNS

  • yes--- it would be most exhilirating!!

  • Yes. OU and Texas are clearly the best teams. They should play again away from crooked Texas refs.

  • It is possible but almost impossible, this year no Florida would jump over to the number 1 spot or 2 depending on how large or small the win is.
National Championship will be Oklahoma vs. Florida and Florida will win

  • yes it is possible there is no official rule against two teams from the same conference playing in the National Championship

However the human part of the BCS makes it nearly impossible because they believe you should have won your conference to play in the NC game

  • It would be nearly impossible. If a person such as alabama looses to flordia, then flordia would be likely to be in the top two. They have only lost one game by one point, while texas had one blowout. It would be a very unlikely scenario.

  • It's very possible. In fact it could happen this year. What would happen if Florida beats Alabama? If Oklahoma were to win they would probably move into the number 1 spot, but it is possible that if the score of the Alabama-Florida game is close; then we could see Texas at number two. This would mean Oklahoma and Texas (which are not only in the same conference, the Big 12, but both in the same division, South. If two teams from the same conference finish high enough in the BCS rankings, if a couple of underdogs knock off a highly ranked opponent you could see it quite often.

  • i think so, every one wants oklahoma and texas play for the bcs championship, it would be the best game, there are so evenly matched, huge ratings if these two teams played for the championship

  • yes it is.

ANd I think Texas deserves to be in Big 12 Championship game!
But hopefully the Tigers will take care of business this weekend.

  • It's possible, but if Florida wins a 12th game against the number one team in the nation, they are "almost" guaranteed a spot in the BCS championship.

-In the AP poll Florida is 2nd, only behind Alabama. A win would put them #1 in the poll.

-The Coaches Poll they are 4th, slightly behind Texas by 11 points. A win should jump them ahead of an idle Texas Team.

-Your scenerio could happen, because of the CPU rankings, which favor the Big 12. Alabama is only #3 in the Computer rankings, While Florida is #6.
-The CPU rankings are unpredictable, Florida could beat Alabama, and stay idle at #6, who knows?
