» Atheists, what is your response to this person's argument?
"The Bible correctly predicted through prophecy that there would be a decline of belief in the Bible. This is one of the things that helps prove it's true." As opposed to what? The same percentage of believers throughout history? If I wanted you to believe something stupid, I'd tell you some people are going to tell you it's stupid and you shouldn't listen to them. This shouldn't work on anybody past grade schoolThen they must believe even more strongly in horoscopes. Make enough vague predictions and some are bound to look like they come true. And the absolute fact is that even if the book made a specific prediction which it does not and that prediction unquestionably came true which none have it still wo...... - 2010-03-17
» Time to Go....a poem, comments?
I wrote this 4 years after my first love passed away: Time to Go People crying, Tears falling like rain. Another funeral, Too much god damn pain. The one who died, I still hold close. The one who died, I still love most. Words were said, Prayers were spoken. My own pure heart, Forever broken. I wanted to die, To be with him, too. But something inside, Said No, someone needs you. I held the knife, Justly so. That the blood would flow, And forever flow. But before I could, A voice spoke to me. You cannot die, Not yet, Not thee. Someone cares, Someone needs your love. Just as the one, Who was sent above. They need you Danielle, Youâ ™re their rock, Youâ ™re their hope. They need...... - 2010-03-17
» Devoiced sounds
Is there a general rule for when certain syllabels get devoiced... or is it just scattered throughout the language? You mean silent things... like the b in dumb (no, I'm not being fecisious). Besides the ‚Í = wa & ‚ð = o there are very few. Pronunciation-wise, Japanese is a very straight-forward langauge. I do recall one... can't remember what it is right now... but I think I saw it on a sushi shop. My wife explained it to me, at which point I discarded it. :)No I mean like... on occasion I've come across the addition of Ku to the end of shi... on some word, for some reason... but it's pronounced "shku" rather than "shiku"As far as I can tell that's personal preference or just speed of speech. like in suki.. you'll have people speakin...... - 2010-03-17
» Multifamily Pipeline Reporting in Seattle, Washington
I am looking for a provider of pipeline reporting for the multifamily real estate market in the greater Seattle metro area. A sample of a provider that provides adequate and complete information for other cities is MPF research (www.mpfresearch.com). MPF does sell a Seattle report, but, unlike in many of the other cities it services, it does not have the detail we need. This pipeline report should contain detailed information by submarket, including the following: * Names, addresses, property developers, number of units and completion dates of recently completed apartment complexes * Names, addresses, property developers, number of units and completion dates of under construction or planned apartment complexes * Average rents for apar...... - 2010-03-17

» QPR v. Colchester (R)
R's up 1-0 on Colchester United, Furlong with the goal. As far as the clubs we're neck and neck with, it's going almost as well as we could want it to. Oldham and Cardiff both losing by a goal, while Bristol City is up 2-0.Oldham and Cardiff both equalize, but we're still holding 4TH PLACE at the moment :)Sure looks like we're gonna get Oldham Athletic in the first playoff round...I think one of the first FA Cup runs ever shown in the USA was on ESPN in 1982, the year we faced down Tottenham. For some Americans, this was our first exposure to English football. As for me, it was combination of the above and the fact that when I lived in London (1990's) I was in Notting Hill (back when it was cheaper) and the nearest club was Rangers....... - 2010-03-17

I have been told a story, Is it true? » Question about Seattle and Parents...?
Hello, I am 14 years old (15 in summer), and I have an aunt and uncle that live in Seattle Washington. I have visited them and I loved it up there. I was wondering how I can convince my parents to let me live with them up there for this summer of 2009. Any ideas? Also, I am pretty sure when I am older I want to move there, and work at Boeing. The same uncle works there and he has inspired me to work there. Do you know anything about working/living up there(in Seattle)? Thank you to everyone!!It is EXPENSIVE. Nine months of the year it rains and is really depressing. If you can get over those two things you're pretty set. Oh also, it's tough to make friends. i had 2 tooth extractions to correct my overbite and now there are very large visible gaps in my teeth that i hate. can i still get surgery to fix my overbite even though i have already gone through 1 and a half years of braces and have gaps in my teeth? if not how long will it take for the gaps in my teeth to close? the gap is about the size of a tooth and is very noticeable when i smile or talk. Are they planning surgery for the future? If so, disregard my answer, because the gaps might be there to aid in the surgery (part of the plan). I would first consider implants/restorations to put "teeth" in those spaces. If that wasn't a possibility due to limited space or limited bone, then "bridges would likely be the next best option....... - 2010-03-17

Can it be set up so each user must input the state their from, and certain members have a designation or a type of membership so they would be emailed whenever a normal user STARTED a thread (not just post, but only START a thread)? For example, could all car dealers in California be emailed when a user from california posted a thread asking a question about a car? How do I find someone to design my site for me? » The manager of a large apartment complex knows from experience that 90 units will be occupied if the rent is ?
The manager of a large apartment complex knows from experience that 90 units will be occupied if the rent is 288 dollars per month. A market survey suggests that, on the average, one additional unit will remain vacant for each 8 dollar increase in rent. Similarly, one additional unit will be occupied for each 8 dollar decrease in rent. What rent should the manager charge to maximize revenue? Its a ridiculous and unrealistic question. The way the question is posed, in theory, you could raise the rent by $432 to a total of $720 per unit. That would create 54 vacancies leaving only 36 paying tenants. But the revenue would be the same as having 90 tenants. Raise the rent to $504 leaving 63 paying tenants gets you $31,752 a month. That...... - 2010-03-17

honestly.None. No country should ever be that powerful that they can rule the world.I think no country can rule the world though they are so powerful. Because many country will unite and fight this country that will try to remove their freedom. It is always someones turn to Carry the Big Stick. Superpowers come and go. And when you look throughout history everyone has totally sucked at it. » How do I transfer pictures from my digital camera onto my computer?
Okay, I have this fairly new Kodak EasyShare M753 camera. I've been using it for months, I took pictures and then uploaded them onto my computer. When I wanted to upload a picture onto my computer, I'd plug in the camera to it's USB cord and then the cord into my computer. Then in a few seconds a Camera Wizard would pop up on my screen and ask me to select which pictures I want to upload, etc. I have since let my brother borrow it. He brought it to his friend's house, took some pictures there, and uploaded them onto his friends computer. Since he's brought it home, I've tried to upload pictures onto my computer like I previously did, but when I plug it in the Wizard doesn't pop up. The computer does...... - 2010-03-17

Why would normal user connections to vB use large numbers of TCP connections per IP address? I have seen this behavior before and was not an issue, per se. Why would so many TCP connections be launched per user? How can this be controlled better? Just reaching out, looking for suggestions. I am just about to wrap up my first semester of college. I entered as a direct admit to their College of Engineering as an EE. For the past 3 years that's what I was set on doing. I found out that even though I liked it I didn't want to be doing it the rest of my life. So I dropped my Intro to EE class. I decided to switch my major to Computer Science because I feel like I'll enjoy working on the setting up of computers, networks, databases, and even software more so. I drive a 1999 Ford Focus 1.8. Since the last few weeks, my car's speedometer will often suddenly reset to zero even though I'm driving close to 50+ mph. When I brake the engine will stop. What is the problem? Is it something to do with the timing belt? There are a few TSB's regarding this issue in particular. The first possibilty is the crank sensor which has already been suggested. While this is a possibilty it is very unlikely. The more plausible option is that it is a ground issue in the IGN C Circuit. This is a common problem with Fords but unforuntately is rather expensive. The problem has nothing to do with the timing belt, as the speedo is not effected by any components associated with t belt swap. Would hook up a...... - 2010-03-17

The forks are NOT designed for drops or jumps or rough terrain.Neither fork is all that great, in fact both are the lowest of the low. If a foreign name is meaningful to you, then so be it.Wrong? No. Inconsiderate? Yes. If you are determined to name your child with a foreign name, at least consider the amount of teasing that kids always do, and at least name them from a place of their heritage. » Ice wine, anyone? Canadian vs. German, which do you prefer?
I prefer German Eiswein but have had some good Canadian ones. My favourite for value and taste is Dr. Thanisch. If you don't care how much something costs, then by all means grab the Meuller-Katoire. Now that's heaven on earth!!!The South Okanagan Valley is at the same latitude as the Rhineland, and thus has the same light etc. The climate is somewhat similar to Germany, albeit hotter in summer and colder in winter. This can produce sweeter wines. However, unlike other places in Canada, and certainly the States, the Okanagan produces wine from vinifera vines, rather than hybrids. That is, the wine comes from exactly the same kind of vines, grown in very similar circumstances. And, they are making some awesome ice wine! It ...... - 2010-03-17

» Database error emails
I'm getting a ton of emails each day, and they all say this: Database error in vBulletin : Link-ID == false, connect failed mysql error: mysql error number: 0 I heard on another forum that it means the MySQL server is crashing IIRC. What is this and is there anything I can do to fix the problem? Thanks, Sean NinerHi, I had a similar problem before. Are you using php accelerator? That was the main problem on our install. Also, just general high traffic can cause MySQL to crash (we are getting 100,000 page views a day.. so the load used to be very high). Hope that helps. CheersThis error means that either the info in your config.php file is wrong (in which case your forums wouldn't work at all) or there is a problem with the...... - 2010-03-17

» Cases of Dengue Fever Double in Costa Rica
Cases of Dengue Up 115% over Last Year in Costa Rica By Amanda Roberson About 115% more cases of dengue have sprung up so far this year compared to the same period last year, leaving one Costa Rican family to mourn the loss of a baby who died from the hemorrhagic form of this mosquito-transmitted disease. Isaac Alonso Montenegro, one year and six months old, died April 19 at the National Children's Hospital in San José after being transferred there from his Southern Zone home of Paso Canoas, according to the daily La Nación. Public Health Minister María Luisa Avila reported Friday that a lab test of his tissue sent to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in the U.S. city of Atlanta confirmed dengue as his cause of ...... - 2010-03-17

what is genetic manipulation in animals?Dear Hah, Genetic manipulation, also called "genetic engineering" is the "Scientific alteration of the structure of genetic material in a living organism." This could apply to animals (including humans) or plants. The animal activism site Cruel Science explains: "Genetic manipulation refers to the creation of new life forms through deliberate modification of DNA??the material responsible for inherited characteristics. Animals born following the introduction of a gene from another species are known as ?transgenic,? whereas animals born with a missing gene are termed ?knockouts.? The first animal to be genetically manipulated was a giant mouse??created nearly 20 years ago??with the gene for huma...... - 2010-03-17
» Excessive TCP Connections....
Why would normal user connections to vB use large numbers of TCP connections per IP address? I have seen this behavior before and was not an issue, per se. Just recently, I introduced APF and DDOS to my server. Low and behold, I had users having their IP addresses banned all over the place, with connection volumes over 150 and 1 over 200. Why would so many TCP connections be launched per user? How can this be controlled better? Just reaching out, looking for suggestions. The 55.666.777.88 IP address here is a prime example, where there are 102 TCP connections registered netstat -nt results: tcp 0 0 11.22.333.44:80 55.666.777.88:1728 TIME_WAIT tcp 0 0 11.22.333.44:80 55.666.777.88:1729 ...... - 2010-03-17

» Majors - Switching and Switching?
I am just about to wrap up my first semester of college. I entered as a direct admit to their College of Engineering as an EE. For the past 3 years that's what I was set on doing. I found out that even though I liked it I didn't want to be doing it the rest of my life. So I dropped my Intro to EE class. I decided to switch my major to Computer Science because I feel like I'll enjoy working on the setting up of computers, networks, databases, and even software more so. Now next semester I have 3 General Education classes and a Introduction to Computer Science class. As much as I think I'll like computer science I feel myself being drawn towards the Nursing field. I feel like I am just searching through ...... - 2010-03-17
» Problem with Ford Focus?

» In search of a new name for my racing forum?
I want it to be different, that's my only requirement. My philosophy is to think outside the box. When you dump out a box it may seem like a mess, but if you arrange that mess into a proper order you create a masterpiece. I don't want something that you just see anywhere like "The Garage" or "The Backstretch". I've gotten one decent name so far, "View from the Grandstands"One track mind In the Garage area there are 2 types of passes; "Hot Pass" (which gets you in the area behind the pit box.) "Cold Pass" (which gets you access to the garage area.) "Spotters Voice" "That really big traffic jam after the race is over." Both of those forks are intended for high frequency impacts- like a cobblestone road or a path paved with loose rocks, so if that is your intention then go for it. The forks are NOT designed for drops or jumps or rough terrain.Neither fork is all that great, in fact both are the lowest of the low.
